Inner Worlds | Architect Luis Laplace

<p><em>The ‘Inner Worlds’ film series visits creatives in the places that inspire them</em></p>
<p>Recognized as one of the most innovative architects of our time, Luis Laplace combines art, craft, history, and modernity.&nbsp;Co-founder – together with his partner Christophe Comoy – and principal of Laplace, the Argentinian designed&nbsp;the gallery spaces for <a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/gallery/1153/Hauser-Wirth" target="_blank">Hauser & Wirth</a> in Menorca and Somerset, and is currently working on their new Paris gallery, set to open on Rue François-Ier this autumn. Other notable commissions include the Chillida Leku museum in San Sebastián, Spain. Laplace has also worked with many leading art world figures including artist <a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/artist/8291/Cindy-Sherman" target="_blank">Cindy Sherman</a> and gallerist <a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/gallery/1134/Perrotin" target="_blank">Emmanuel Perrotin</a><a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/gallery/1134/Perrotin" target="_blank"></a>, among others.</p>
<p>In this episode of ‘Inner Worlds’, we visit Luis Laplace at his atelier and home in the heart of Paris’s 9th arrondissement. With its subtle minimalism, the home displays a rich collection of design objects and pieces, including works by <a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/artist/7650/Paul-McCarthy" target="_blank">Paul McCarthy</a>, Alice Colonieu, and Howard Warshaw. ‘I like to showcase a place’s DNA’, he says, ‘I don’t like formulas.’</p>
