154 galleries from 33 countries and territories will participate in the second edition of Paris+ par Art Basel, showing high-profile solo, duo, and group presentations in the Grand Palais Éphémère, in the heart of the French capital. Visitors can look forward to a wide array of paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations, photographs, editions, and digital works, exemplifying the fair's commitment to showcasing the diversity of the current French and international art scene.
True to its mission to promote the French gallery ecosystem, Paris+ par Art Basel will feature 58 exhibitors with an exhibition space in France. They will present works by a wide variety of artists, from key figures of the 20th century to new talents.
138 galleries present in 2022 will return to the fair's Galeries sector. Notably, A Gentil Carioca (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo) will feature a duo presentation of Indigenous Brazilian artist Denilson Baniwa and Afro-Brazilian artist Arjan Martins; Selma Feriani Gallery (Tunis and London) will show a selection of works by artists from the Middle East and North Africa; Pace Gallery (New York, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Palm Beach, Seoul) will bring historic and contemporary works by artists from its impressive roster; LambdaLambdaLambda (Pristina) and Hannah Hoffman (Los Angeles) will present in a joint booth that will include works by Croatian artists Nora Turato and Hana Miletić, as well as Bahamian artist Dominique Knowles, among others.
The Galeries Émergentes sector, whose Official Partner is the Galeries Lafayette group, will feature 14 galleries and shed light on contemporary themes such as the perception of gender, our relationship to nature, and the increasing ubiquity of manipulated images. LC Queisser (Tbilisi) will present works by Elene Chantldze, a recently discovered septuagenarian artist from Georgia; Marfa’ (Beirut) will show a project by photographer Mohamed Abdouni, who has documented the lives of transgender people in his native Lebanon; and seventeen (London) will invite Joey Holder to explore cryptozoology and queer ecology through an immersive video installation. One artist from the sector will be selected for a solo exhibition at Lafayette Anticipations the following year.
Four exhibitors of last year's Galeries Émergentes sector will graduate to the Galeries sector: Antenna Space (Shanghai), Galerie Anne Barrault (Paris), Carlos/Ishikawa (London) and Édouard Montassut (Paris).
16 galleries will participate in Paris+ par Art Basel for the first time. Among the newcomers in the galleries sector, Blum & Poe (Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo) will present sculptures by self-taught African American artist Lonnie Holley; Richard Nagy Ltd. (London) will bring an array of works by artists from the German and Austrian avant-garde of the 20th century, including Egon Schiele and Otto Dix; and P.P.O.W. (New York) will show historical works by queer artists Peter Hujar and David Wojnarowicz.
Nine new galleries are entering the Galeries Émergentes sector, including Document (Chicago and Lisbon), with a multimedia installation by Indonesian collective Tromorama; Gianni Manhattan (Vienna), with works that explore queer desire by Aurélien Potier; and Lyles & King (New York) with a project by Shala Miller, which explores the Black body and pain.
