The Art Basel Conversations program brings together influential figures from the art world and beyond – from artists, writers and gallerists, to activists and academics. In Miami Beach, their lively dialogues will tackle everything from climate-change denial and social-media censorship, to the artists who are redefining contemporary photography. Here we pick out a few of the highlights from the unmissable Conversations schedule at Art Basel Miami Beach 2019. <a href="https://www.artbasel.com/events/detail/10154/Conversations-Artists-Influencers/6902" target="_blank">Artists’ Influencers</a> Precious Okoyomon and Rirkrit Tiravanija Thursday, December 5,&nbsp;10am to 11:30am

	The program kicks-off with Artists’Influencers, Hans Ulrich Obrist’s recurring series bringing together artists with the individuals whose influence has helped to shape their practice. In Miami, the Brooklyn-based artist and writer Precious Okoyomon meets one of her inspirations, the Buenos Aries-born Thai artist&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/artist/7088/Rirkrit-Tiravanija" target="_blank">Rirkrit Tiravanija</a>. Okoyomon is one of the most exciting young poets working today; her writing incorporates everything from the stream-of-consciousness thoughts she records as she wanders the city, to tweets and text message conversations with friends. Tiravanija’s practice is based around participation, experience, and exchange, including the famed installations where he cooks and shares meals with gallery-goers.

<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/events/detail/10202/Conversations-Stonewall-at-50-What-Now/6852" target="_blank">Stonewall at 50 – What Now?</a> Thursday, December 5,&nbsp;5pm to 6pmOn June 28, 1969, a raid by police on The Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, New York City, triggered a spontaneous uprising by members of the LGBTQ community. The riots that took place in the days that followed are now viewed as one of the foundational moments in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights in the US. Fifty years on, this panel brings together artists with wide-ranging viewpoints to discuss the impact of queer culture in the fight for equal rights, and potential approaches for the battle ahead. Moderator Stuart Comer (The Lonti Ebers Chief Curator of Media and Performance, The Museum of Modern Art, New York City) is joined by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/artist/11376/AA-Bronson" target="_blank">AA Bronson</a>, (artist, Toronto and Berlin), Lotic (DJ and producer, Berlin),&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/artist/12651/Carlos-Motta" target="_blank">Carlos Motta</a> (artist, New York City), and Sharmistha Ray (artist, writer and educator, New York City).

<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/events/detail/10205/Conversations-The-Ethics-of-Museum-Funding/6854" target="_blank">The Ethics of Museum Funding</a> Thursday, December 5,&nbsp;3pm to 4pmThroughout 2019, major museums across the globe have been forced to take a closer look at the sources of their philanthropic funding. Direct-action campaigns, such as Prescription Addiction Intervention Now (P.A.I.N.) led by the artist Nan Goldin, have been influential in persuading cultural institutions - including London's Tate - to cease further donations from prominent patrons. How can museum directors balance ethical concerns with their responsibility to ensure their institutions remain financially stable? Museum leaders Axel Rüger (Secretary and Chief Executive, Royal Academy, London) and Mary Ceruti (Executive Director, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis) are joined by Dennis Scholl, (President &amp; CEO, Oolite Arts, Miami), Sarah Douglas (Editor-in-Chief, ARTnews, New York City) and moderator András Szántó (author and cultural strategy consultant, New York City) to discuss the implications for museums and their donors.

	The American pioneer of feminist and performance art,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/artist/23464/Carolee-Schneemann" target="_blank">Carolee Schneemann</a>, died aged 79 in March 2019. Although renowned for her radical performance-based works, Schneemann described herself as 'a painter who had in effect enlarged her canvas'. Always seeking to challenge societal taboos, among her best-known pieces is Interior Scroll, 1975, a performance during which she drew a scroll from her vagina and recited from it. This panel, moderated by Dan Cameron (curator, New York City) brings Schneemann's New York gallerist Wendy Olsoff (Co-owner,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/gallery/1239/P-P-O-W" target="_blank">P.P.O.W</a>, New York City), together with fellow New Yorkers&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/artist/10595/Judith-Bernstein" target="_blank">Judith Bernstein</a> (artist, New York City) and Narcissister (artist, New York City) to discuss Schneemann's legacy and to share their personal relationship with the artist and her work.


	 <a href="https://www.artbasel.com/events/detail/10209/Conversations-What-Do-Young-Collectors-Expect-from-the-Art-Market/6858" target="_blank">What Do Young Collectors Expect from the Art Market? </a>Saturday, December 7, 5pm to 6pm


	Museums and galleries are transforming traditional models in order to connect with a new breed of younger collectors. This panel will discuss what defines the millennial collector, how their needs and values differ from the baby-boomer generation (still the by far largest constituent of art collectors), and the best practices for galleries in the age of Instagram. Moderator 
	Alexander Forbes (Marketplace Strategist, Artsy, New York City) is joined by Joeonna Bellorado-Samuels (Director,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/gallery/1267/Jack-Shainman-Gallery" target="_blank">Jack Shainman Gallery</a>, New York City), Paul Leong (art collector, New York City) and Elena Soboleva (Director of Online Sales,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.artbasel.com/catalog/gallery/1103/David-Zwirner" target="_blank">David Zwirner</a>, London).
