In El Segundo Verso, Nadia Hernández  creates a monumental, double-sided installation where sound, color, and narrative converge as acts of resilience and preservation. Drawing on her Venezuelan heritage and diasporic experience, Hernández weaves bold textile panels with fragments of protest songs and poetry, crafting a vibrant and layered encounter for audiences. At the core of El Segundo Verso is Hernández’s belief in art as a vessel for preserving cultural memory and navigating the complexities of identity. Influenced by Venezuelan folk traditions and the collective experiences of the diaspora, her work transforms everyday details and shared histories into powerful expressions of connection and survival. Each thread and phrase carry an urgency to remember, resisting the erasure of her homeland’s cultural legacy. The soundscape adds another dimension, echoing voices of struggle and celebration, while the monumental panels immerse viewers in shifting perspectives that bridge the personal and the political. Through this dynamic interplay, Hernández creates a space for audiences to reflect on how memory, migration, and belonging shape our shared humanity. Her work offers not only a celebration of cultural survival, but also a poetic meditation on the enduring power of storytelling as a form of resistance and renewal.
