Gallery-Skape

Gallery Skape, with the aim of appreciating multiformity and perceiving the landscape of today’s art scene, opened its doors in September 2004. Actively promoting contemporary Korean artists since its establishment, Skape has been quickly positioned as a platform for the ‘newness’ within the Korean contemporary art scene. Furthermore, with its distinctive taste in art, the gallery has become a forefront in discovering and promoting Korean artists. 

Since its inception, Skape has enlarged the frontier by introducing Korean artists to the international art scene. The gallery’s efforts to present Korean contemporary art have been translated into collaborations with art institutions worldwide such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei, How Art Museum in China, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum in Japan, Wellcome Collection and Murderme, Hall Place & Gardens in the U.K., Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art, Plateau, National Museum of Contemporary Art in Korea, Edwin’s Gallery in Indonesia, Spazio Lightbox in Italy.

Participation in well-known international art fairs is also an important activity for Gallery Skape in promoting Korean contemporary art. The gallery has participated in Art Basel Hong Kong in 2015, 2014, 2013, Hong Kong Art Fair in 2012, Tokyo Art Fair in 2014, 2013, 2012, 2009, and Art Amsterdam since 2007 until 2010, Taipei Art Fair in 2012, Contemporary Istanbul in 2014 and Art Stage Singapore in 2015

Gallery Skape is progressively gaining international recognition by representing the most promising contemporary artists in Asia. By developing and forming an international network, Skape aims to be an active stage in the contemporary art scene.
