Fashion, glamour, custom cars and esoterics... These are recurring and important themes in Sylvie Fleury’s works. Nevertheless, feminism plays a special role too, especially in the way the artist "perverts" icons of masculine art history such as Mondrian, Pollock or Judd by adding definite feminine touches such as make-up colours or rounded forms. For this particular work, we see a minimalistic Donald Judd-like "stack piece" being used as shelves for formal objects where the femine and the masculine interact in a yin/yang fashion. The metallic rectangles contrast with and are also complemented by the indefinite objects that soften the hard-edged reflective surface.
