I paint to make peace with the things I cannot control. I paint to create red in a world that often appears black and white, with sometimes a hint of grey. I paint to uncover dialogues inside my head. I paint to meet my memories and my ghosts. I paint to honour beauty. I paint to send images to my friends, as an act of daily conversation. I paint because it creates my composure, my solitude. I paint to ask questions that shatter my sleep. I paint to remember. I paint to forget. I paint because it is the way I take ambling walks. I paint as a bow to the wilderness, inner and outer. I paint because I believe it can create a path in shadow, in darkness and in the light. I paint as a witness to my imagination. I paint because like love it is a risk to reveal how vulnerable we are, how transient we are, how resilient we are. I paint for survival.
