This assemblage is emblematic of Hans-Peter Feldmann’s visual approach: the compilation of found pictures presented in a subjective way. Most recently, he has been collecting old paintings: portraits, landscapes, and seascapes. Feldmann uses these sceneries as topographical studies: a specific kind of sky, a certain way to depict nature. “11 Horizons“ is a collection of eleven oil paintings, all landscapes, made by several artists at various periods. Frameless, hanging edge to edge, although their dimensions vary, they are aligned on their visible horizon in order to draw a continuous line through the different pictures, building an uninterrupted panorama. In a very poetic way, Feldmann brings together all these different places, both real and imaginary, immersing the beholder in a new genre of landscape.
