Chen Cheng-po Waterside, 1939 This painting depicts Nan Yao Temple built during the Qing Dynasty in a countryside village in Taiwan. The temple decorated with beautiful details such as red brick gables, double-eaved roof, and swallowtail is the main place for worshiping in community. With red roofs and green trees reflecting in the clear water, the composition looks even more attractive and abundant. Chen Cheng-po felt deep affection for his native place, caring community, and warm scenery of the temples in the village.
